Coaching Resources
If you are interested in coaching or in developing your current coaching skills, there are a number of pathways and programs available for you. Below we have compiled a list of important resources regarding coaching badminton in Ontario and Canada.
1. Badminton Canada Coaching Pathway
For those looking to become certified badminton coaches, Badminton Canada has designed a pathway for coach development. Currently there are three main badminton coaching certifications in Canada: Regional, Provincial, and Competition-Development. 2. Badminton Ontario Coaching
Badminton Ontario (BON) has specific coaching requirements to coach at BON sanctioned events. BON also hosts a number of coaching clinics that will help you pursue the badminton coaching pathway. 3. Coaches Association of Ontario
The Coaches Association of Ontario (CAO) is the province's main organization for multi-sport coach development. In addition to keeping coaches up to date with current and new coaching practices, the CAO also organizes a wide variety of NCCP (National Coach Certification Program) coach development clinics. These courses can help with your badminton coach development, and to help maintain your coaching certification. The CAO also offers other coach development opportunities such as keynote speakers, seminars, webinars, and a yearly "coaching week". To learn more about the CAO has to offer, please click HERE.
Officiating Resources
1. Badminton Ontario Officials Pathway
Badminton Ontario has developed a pathway for badminton officials. Their pathway includes all requirements and training needed to achieve the: Umpire in Training, Regional Umpire and Provincial Umpire statuses. Once an established Provincial umpire, you may enter training for the national umpire or referee pathways. To learn more about becoming a badminton official, please click HERE.
